Bug? Relation for certain Azure Devops Items not showing up
Hi,
We’re working on an reasonably elaborate plan with the intent to visualize dependencies. I’m particularly interested in all successors to visualize the flow of work, what needs to be done for others to start. For many items depencies configured in Azure DevOps as successor/predecessor do not show up in the Lucid Chart.
I’ve waited days for Lucid to process, tried unlinking/linking, re-importing the items. Even though the work item relations pill acknowledges the existence of successors, the relations show for some of the work items and for others it doesn’t - which seems very inconsistent.
Just now I’ve imported some items and the relations show when I import from the relations pill button. I removed the work items to reproduce and now the relationships to not show anymore. I’m lost, and can’t find a help article through google to figure this out.
What can I/you do to resolve the issue?

Hi @mbd, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community!
Would you mind clarifying which browser you are using?
Have the links ever shown for the ones being inconsistent? Is it showing them some of the time or never?
Are all the links in the same org? Or same parent(s) in the same project?
Would you mind posting a screen shot or video with the linked work items tab displaying?
For example, this is what I see on one of mine:
You mention using just the pill, what happens when you click ‘Show all links’?
Can you confirm that all the relationships are child/successor/duplicate of? Lucid doesn’t display any other link types (big one being related to)
Thanks,
Eric
Hi @Grieser ,
Thank you for your response first of all. I've been troubleshooting and think I'm honing in on what is happening.
To clarify; there are multiple users that set up an Azure data source on their account, all pointing to the same company environment. I'm thinking items created through different data source connections might not identify their relationships accordingly simply because of the different connection.
To answer your questions: 1. Chrome 136.0.7103.114 2. The relations only show when I import them in bulk, when I use the pill and import a child item it doesn't. Presumably because I imported my item through a different data source connection. 3. Same org, same parent(s), same project, potentially different data source connection. 4. I've configured it to show successor(s) only. 5. No change, again, presumably because of the data connection. 6. Correct, I'm particularly interested in successors only.
As I'm troubleshooting - My hypothesis is that if I remove data connections it will resolve the issue. However I can't (or don't know here to) remove data connections. Unlinking and re-linking doesn't solve the issue as when I unlink 1 that unlinks them all, when I re-link 1 all are relinked.
Hi @mbd,
Thanks for the reply -- apologies on the delay.
If you are a company admin, the data integration should be able to be removed in the integrations & apps tab in the account settings (clicking your icon in the top right). Unfortunately, I am not so I can’t confirm/deny exactly how to do that. May be worth reaching out to your account executive to help manage that.
Meanwhile, I was able to recreate your issue so I don’t necessarily think it’s related to data sources. Here were my steps:
Import a work item using the Lucid Card app button
Either Click on the work item’s link on the card, or using the app button ‘visualize linked work items’ and clicking the card
Ensure that either the ‘keep lines visible’ pill is enabled or the pill for linked work items to work item 123 is enabled
click import on the child(ren)/parent(s)
For any work item you’ve never imported, the line should show. For any work item you’ve previously imported, the line will not show.
Click on the card that is not showing the line, and enable the ‘keep lines visible’.
You’ll know it’s correct if both cards have the link in a darker blue like this:
Refresh the page, and the lines should be showing again.
This worked for me with regularity. Try it and let me know if that works! I think you found a bug since other children will be light blue but still show the line. Best bet is to make all the cards be dark blue for the linked work items.
Thanks,
Eric
@Grieser Wow! I will try and check this after the weekend. Thank you for your persistence in figuring out what could be happening.
@Grieser Your approach fixed my issue for now. I will use your description to file a bug report. Well done research on your end! Thanks again!
Hi @mbd, thanks for posting in the Lucid Community! Thank you @Grieser for your help here!
@mbd are you still having trouble with this? Can you please send a temporary Support PIN for this document? This will allow me to take a closer look at the issue you’re experiencing. For more information on generating a Support PIN, check out this Help Center article. This PIN is only accessible by members of the Lucid support staff, so it is safe to share within this thread.
